Tribal Trends
Tribal trends are massive fashion news this Spring as this designer favourite finally makes a move from the catwalk to the high street. Creating the look is simple and thanks to stores like Primark and Peacocks it can be done on a budget. Before you buy anything though, root out any tan or brown garments you have in your wardrobe. This could be anything from an old suede jacket to a brown pair of play trousers you haven’t worn since the late eighties! Dust them off and start pairing them up with creams and nudes to create the basic canvas for your look.
Once you have your key garments sorted you can invest in a few statement accessories to create contrast and get your tribal vibe going on. Turquoise blue, red, orange and yellow are the key colours you should be aiming for as they really stand out from a distance and will help to break up the earth tones you used as a base.
Animal prints can be used too of course and at the moment the high street is awash with snake, leopard, zebra and giraffe print garments which offer no end of possibilities for a creative Recessionista. As with any trend you’re following, the main thing is to make the look your own. There’s nothing worse than stepping out in a newly arranged ensemble only to realise that you and everyone else look like the double of the mannequin in TopShop! Use scarves as belts, buy some beads and make your own tribal necklaces, wear animal print tights under your tribal boots, anything to stand out from the soon-to-be masses of tribal trend followers.
