More spring 2009 runway hair trends – perfectly undone
We all know that what seems messy and thrown together on the runway is utterly contrived and takes hours to achieve. Here to make it easier? Redken Creative Consultant Guido who dubs this look, seen on runways like Peter Som and Calvin Klein, above, “perfectly undone.”
This is a great look to match a casual summer outfit or sun dress, and is still easier to achieve at home than more polished styles.
“Hair shouldn’t look tamed this season,” Guido says. “Instead, bring out natural texture by applying Redken Thickening Lotion 06 Body Builder and tousling with your fingers as you blow dry.”
To get the casual-chic half-pony seen at Peter Som, above left, start by misting sections of dry hair with Redken Spray Starch 15 Versatile Ironing Spray. “Curl with a one-inch curling iron, gather into a half-pony with volume at the crown and secure with bobby pins. Pull pieces loose to enhance the disheveled affect.”
For the easiest updo, seen at Calvin Klein, above right, apply a protective blow dry gel or Redken Quick Dry and blow dry with a paddle brush. “Part hair with your fingers and gather into a low ponytail, leaving the tail in a loop with the ends sticking out.”
For this last look, proper blow dry and product are key. Throwing your unwashed hair into a messy pony to run to the grocery store does not mean you look like you just stepped off a Calvin Klein runway, remember that.
The ponytails, knots and half-ponytails on runways like these and Balenciaga, Celine, Marc Jacobs and Salvatore Ferragamo had a casual, disheveled vibe that played perfectly against spring’s ladylike silhouettes, so be sure to perfect the satin-matte finishes for an easily elegance and pair with a more dressy look.
