How to have Now Brows!
They say the eyes are the windows to your soul; but if you ask any obsessive beauty buff, they’ll tell you that it’s the eyebrows that are the tantalizing gates that frame them!
Was that just a tad bit over dramatic? Maybe, but if you don’t think eyebrows are important, think again.
I present you with a rather famous example of why it’s necessary to tame unruly eyebrows.

Wow, what an amazing difference it makes to the face.
It’s all very well to treat yourself to a good old threading or waxing session; every now and again, but what about those times when you just can’t afford regular trips to the salon? Never fear, I’ve rustled up a few tips and tricks, so that you can achieve that perfectly arched brow. So finally, let us say farewell to those hungry-caterpillar-like brows forever! (Or at least till they grow back again)
The Tools
You’ll need bright light, some tweezers, grooming scissors, and fine brow brush (a soft toothbrush will do, just make sure you don’t need it anymore!)
Step One - The Importance of being Trimmed
In the past, I’ve been to salons to have my eyebrow shaped. This basically means, having my eyebrows trimmed.
Honestly, I had never realised quite how transforming a simple trim could be, until I tried it out myself. How so? Well for a start, tweezing long hair can lead to patches, so it’s safer (if you have a steady hand). Secondly, a trim can make heavy brows look lighter! And in turn, a basic trim will help create a clean brow line; as with shorter hair, it is able to lie flat on the surface.
So if you’re brave enough to try it yourself, here’s what you need to do.
First take the brow brush and sweep the hair upwards. If there are any hairs that show beyond the natural hair line, then carefully snip them.
Then brush the hairs again, but this time, brush it downwards. If you have any longer hairs that need to be trimmed again, do it now! Again, and I can not stress this enough, be very careful! Then brush your hairs back into place.
Step Two - What’s my perfect shape?
Before you even think about picking up a pair of tweezers, it’s important to understand your perfect shape!
Well mono-brows are the first thing that needs to go. I’m not sure I know anyone who can pull that look it off (answers on a postcard if you do!)
So let’s work out where the beginning of our brows should begin.
A lot of sources state you should hold a pencil vertically to the side of your nose, where the pencil lands - this is where your brow should be. However, I’ve followed this rule before and this had, quite unfortunately, not worked for me. I think I spent about a month walking around with one eyebrow longer than the other.
Never again!
It’s a much safer option to mark the beginning of your brow, by aligning it with the centre of your nostril. Now your arch should fall about 2/3rds in from the tear duct, at the back third of your eye.
Finally, the tail end of your eyebrow should fall level with the beginning of your brow. If it’s not (or your tail end is shorter) you can always correct this with an eyebrow pencil, in order to extend the line.
Step Three - Go Pluck Yourself!
Now using those guidelines - mark out your shape with a brow pencil. Then tweeze any hairs that fall over the line, tweezing from underneath, working in one row, from the beginning of your brow to the end of it.
Et Voila! It’s as easy is that, and now you have beautiful brows you can boast about, like the lovely lady of the moment - Marion Cotillard!
