Holiday packing made easy!
Call me crazy, but I love packing for vacation. I think the limitations inspire me and take some of the pressure off of using my whole wardrobe, or maybe it just helps me to not have too many options. Holiday packing is all about the capsule wardrobe, a collection of pieces that can be used in many combinations to create a small portable wardrobe you take with you. Here’s some tips on how to create one.
For a casual trip, start your packing with three T-shirts, perhaps one black, one white and one color. Try to include wrinkle free cotton tees whenever possible. Add a couple pairs of trousers, one a pair of jeans and another a pair that will go with one of the tops. Pick one dress that can be worn sightseeing or out to dinner. Then add a jacket or cardigan that can be worn with both the t-shirts and the dress.
A pashmina wrap is always a versatile choice that can double as a blanket during travel.
“Rather than pack everything flat, I recommend rolling two or three tops together. Our tops lend themselves to being rolled together for packing and then they can be shaken out when you unpack,” says Melissa Nicholson, co-owner of Kettlewell Colours.
