Great spring updo inspired by Vivienne Tam

Models backstage and at the Vivienne Tam presentation.
Vivienne Tam’s girls at her fall 09 presentation during New York during fashion week were incredibly chic. Dare I say their hair was the chicest thing of all? I dare, I say it!
A fresh take on the classic French twist, Nexxus Creative Director Kevin Mancuso crafted an unstructured crown to keep the look young. While Mancuso used Nexxus Mousse Plus, a good medium hold mousse in the UK is Matrix Biolage Hydro-Foam Styler.
To get this look, distribute the mousse throughout your hair and separate the front section (the width of your forehead and about an inch deep) and put it to the side.
Sweep loose hair to one side, secure with bobby pins and spray with a light-weight hairspray. Then twist the hair back over the bobby pins and tuck it in. This step is pretty much the same as a traditional French twist, so any Mom or hairstylist should be able to help you. Secure with more bobby pins and hair spray.
Now take the front section you set aside and blow dry it, pulling it upward for added body with a medium round brush (about the size of the larger round brush in this pack). Scrape the hair back with your fingers and secure at the top of the twist with bobby pins. If there are little (or long) bits sticking out, tuck them into the twist.
Finish with a strong-hold hairspray. My favorite is Redken Workforce, which I see used backstage at fashion week time and time again.
This is a great look for a prom or formal occasion, or even for some more formal offices once you’ve got the technique down.
