Fall makeup is often a bit heavier than spring/summer looks – but many times that makes it perfect for night time year-round. A heavier lip and more made up face are perfect for a night out on the town any time of the year.

This look is from the Nanette Lepore Fall 2009 fashion show at New York Fashion Week. Makeup artist Polly Osmond of MAC created the pinky bronze faces.

“The look uses shades of rose gold in a bohemian traveller sort of way,” Osmond said.

While the face chart called for a fairly deep pink lip, it seems as if the color went more bronze in the creative process. MAC’s Diva Lipstick was blotted onto lips with finger to create a stained look, and then MAC Brassy Fluidline was applied to the center of the lips.

This is a great tip because Fluidline is a gel eyeliner (Brassy is a new color for Fall 09) – but it was used on lips. You often see makeup used in unexpected ways when you’re backstage at a fashion show. Makeup artists use everything “on their palette” to create the most visually stunning look and it’s not uncommon to see lip gloss on eyelids and eye products on lips.

Diva is an intense reddish burgundy brown, you might want to try Bed Head Girls Just Want It Lipstick in Fashion or Glamour, or maybe a combination of the two. If eyeliner on your lips is a little too weird for you, follow with Bed Head Adult Glitter Lip Gloss in Gold.

For eyes Osmond spread concealer on lids to even out skin tone (another great tip) and applied Coffee Eye Pencil to the top and bottom lash line and Powersurge Eye Kohl applied to the inner rim of the eye to open it up. Brassy Fluidline was applied to the eyelid and under eye to create a smoky look. Rose Gold Pigment was also applied on eyelids and under the eye. Eye color was topped off with mascara on top and bottom lashes.

A sheer foundation was used with a cream blush on the apples of cheeks for a rosy glow, highlighted with Antique Rose Cream Colour Base and finished with Invisible Set Powder.
