Face the facts - hairstyles to suit your face shape
It’s hard enough trying to decide what hairstyle to go for these days with so many trends around.
Is it time you had a bob? Join Kate Moss with a funky fringe? Or be really daring and go pixie short?
Instead of looking to your favourite celebrity for new trends, try focusing on celebrities that have the same face shape as yours. The shape of your face plays a big part in what will and won’t look good.
Follow my tips to get a new hair style that won’t only look fab, but is tailor made for you!
Round - Celebrity example = Catherine Zeta Jones
If you have a round face, growing your hair below your jaw would be most flattering. The longer layers create a sense of length to slim the face. As for fringes, opt for a sweeping fringe like Catherine, as a blunt fringe would cut your face length in half and accentuate the width.
Oval - Celebrity example = Kate Moss
If you are lucky enough to have an oval face shape, you can get away with almost any style, as demonstated by Kate Moss. She suited the elfin crop as well as her centre-parted long, wavy hair. Beacuse oval faces are well balanced, you can go short or long without too much worry. Though be careful of going very short or voluminous, it will accentuate a large body frame.
Square - Celebrity example = Gwyneth Paltrow
A square face is actually very attractive, but what you don’t want to do is have a aquare cut, which will really accentuate it. You need rounder hairstyles to soften the shape. think Gwyneth Paltrow when she had her loevly short rounded crop. Or try soft layers to frame the face and soften the square, or longer layers around the neck to add a feminine touch. Blunt cut bobs at the jaw should be avoided at all costs.
Long - Celebrity example = Sarah Jessica Parker
Should you have a longer face like Sarah Jessica Parker, it is best to avoid long, straight styles as these will make your face appear longer. It is better to create a sense of width around the dace with curls like SJP or shorter layers cut at the jaw line.
Heart- Celebrity example = Jennifer Aniston
Jennifers current cut flatters her heart-shaped face. Her chunky layers minimises the larger part of the face whilst the longer layers draw the eyes away from her angular chin.
