Eastenders Pushes the Limit but what did YOU think?

Eastenders has been in the forefront of the media eye this week after its dramatic scenes involving Max Branning being buried alive by his betrayed wife Tanya. The episode which was aired before the watershed has caused a bit of a fuss with people ringing in to complain about the BBC’s judgement on this issue. Whilst I can kind of see where people are coming from on this one, maybe it should have been screened a little bit later, I also think that although the scenes were very tense and dramatic, they didn’t show anything particularly horrific. It also leads me to question what kind of responsible adults are letting their children watch Eastenders anyway. The show is clearly not designed for children regardless of what time it airs so I’d say it’s more a case of parents using their own common sense on this one and turning their TV off if their kids are around or recording the show for later.
The episode itself was very well thought out, with some brilliant chemistry between Tanya, Shaun and Max all the way through. Tanya’s eventual decision to go back and get Max was also a surprise to me; I have to confess I didn’t see that one coming! If anything I was pretty sure that whoever was in the car that pulled up whilst they were burying the body was going to return and dig Max out. The emotional scene between Max and Tanya that followed his release was superbly acted, and I’m wondering if both actors may be up for awards for this episode? Jo Joyner who plays Tanya has been consistently brilliant for the last few months now and I definitely think she deserves some recognition for the passion she’s bringing to the role.
I’m beginning to wonder if Tanya really understands just what she’s getting herself into by turning her back on Shaun though. He’s not exactly the most ‘stable’ of guys at the best of times so I can’t see him taking things laying down can you? Surely there must be some brilliant storylines set to develop out of this! I quite like Shaun, his scary bad boy look holds some kind of appeal doesn’t it? Shame he doesn’t have a wash and pop some clean clothes on more often but hey, beggars cant be choosers as my mum would say! I’m pretty sure that Robert Kazinsky who plays the wayward character will be set for big things when he leaves Eastenders, I can just see him popping up in some classic Brit flicks alongside the likes of Vinnie Jones!
Talking of future storylines, I’m really excited about the return of Ricky and Bianca to the square, that advert the BBC are screening with the Queen Vic windows exploding to the sound of “Rickaaaaay!!” is fantastic, they are definitely building up the hype and I only hope the storylines manage to live up to that!
Anyway, apologies for an Eastenders filled column this week but I had so much to fit in I couldn’t help myself! I’ll be back with some juicy celebrity gossip for you all next week! Have a fab weekend.

I loved the episode! It was soooo dramatic. I actually felt Max’s pain, even though I hate him! lol.
The twist was a huge shocker, but I have to say Im sad Tanya’s dumped Shaun. I thought the new caring Shaun was nice and loved how he cared for her and her kids. Not she’s gonna send him crazy again - but at least that means good storylines!
Anyway in the meantime we can look forward to the return of max’s niece, Bianca, as u said. She’s the new Carol Jackson with kids by different men.
I cant wait! Love Eastenders
Great post anyway!
