Cheryl Cole is All Smiles at The Brit Awards - Plus the Red Carpet Fashions from the Stars!
The Brit Awards were held last night in London and guess who showed up looking fabulous as a kick in the teeth to her lying, cheating hubby? Yes the stunning Cheryl Cole and her Girls Aloud band mates, minus Nadine, lit up the red carpet in bold and funky little dresses. What a perfect way to show Ashley what a mistake he made!
Cheryl hit two Spring trends by wearing a vibrant colour yellow, and a one shouldered dress. I even loved her 80s inspired pink lipstick which looked great with her post-holiday tan. I’m sure in reality she’s very hurt right now, but I’m glad to see she’s getting out and having fun because Ashley Cole is not worth moping about!
The other Girls Aloud ladies looked lovely too. Kimberly was my favourite in a sultry black pencil skirt and strapless white bodice with a hot pink waist belt to keep things fun. Sarah also looked great in s strapless black and white print dress with matching two-tone shoes and a bright pink clutch. I even like Nicola’s red satin animal print dress but her big 70s style hair is a bit much!
I wonder where Nadine was? I’m sure her absense at The Brits will go a way to fuel more rumours that she’s going to leave the band for a solo career.
Black and gold seemed to be popular with British TV personalities like I’m a Celeb’s Gemma Atkinson, who was surprisingly covered-up and stylish in a black and gold shift dress.
Dancing on Ice’s presenter Holly Willoughby avoided more scandal regarding her cleavage with a high necked, sparkly black dress and gold shoes, whilst Denise van Outen grabbed attention in a metallic gold mini dress with plunging neckline and black platform sandals. Daring!
British singing sweetheart Leona Lewis was all sweetness and light in a strapless grey Roberto Cavalli dress and her usual curls, but I’d love to see this girl get a little more edgy! This look is becoming very boring.
Kate Nash on the other hand displayed her quirky sense of style in a salmon pink dress with gold edging and matching slamon peep toes. On some this look would be sickly but on Kate it’s just fun! Congrats are also in order as Kate picked up Best Female Solo Artist last night.
One of my favourite looks of the night was Katherine Jenkins in Valentino Spring 2008, and yes being Welsh I probably am biased but she did look great! The beaded, ivory, off-the-shoulder dress was very 1920s flapper inspired and she looked gorgeous, but I think wearing her hair in a sleek updo would have perfected this look.
And I can’t leave out the International stars who were also looking fab, especially the beautiful Rihanna who earned yet another red carpet gold star for her metallic silver strappless Dolce and Gabanna dress with matching sparkly silver sandals.
Strapless seemed to be the look for our foreign friends as American Kelly Rowland sported a silver strapless feathered dress with white accessories, and Aussie Kylie wore a strapless vintage black Vicky Tiel dress with sweetheart neckline. Kylie even took away the award for International Female Solo Artist.
The biggest winners of the night were Take That, Arctic Monkeys and Foo Fighters, who weren’t there on the night but were very insulting toward the award show via their satellite acceptance speech. Who do they think they are?!
