vavoomBounce away the blues and swap your straight look for this seasons hot to trot mane, sported by celebs such as Cheryl Cole. Mid-length or long, and inspired from past era’s , bodacious babes are prepared, primed and finished to perfection, injected  with some 3d colour and revelation of the ‘Bbabe’ is born.

A curvy, sexy head turning mane, layered with colour, how can you resist? don’t worry if your hair is always big with a frizz, or flat as a pancake, follow my step by step guide to ‘Bbabe’ land

Va va voom mane starts with the right tools, T3 tourmaline evolution hair dryer is lightweight and drying time is reduced due to clever technology which dries the hair from the inside out, so with moisture still in place  next on your B list is the brush, and yes it does make a difference! Our Regincos anti static, ionic, ceramic ’saviour of the smooth and soft’ is a must have brush.

Fail to prepare – you know the rest – preparation starts with cleansing and moisturising your hair.

A curvy, sexy head turning mane, layered with colour, how can you resist?

For medium to thick hair start with redken all soft, or catwalk oatmeal and honey shampoo, damp hair and squeeze out excess moisture, dry hands and place a small ammount of product  into palm, rub hands together to activate nutrients and distribute evenly through hair, emulsify and leave for 30secs to benefit fully from conditioning  properties.Rinse and repeat if necessary, squeeze out excess water.

Next comes your moisture, butter treat from Redken,or heavenly hydrating from catwalk, applied to towel dried hair starting at the ends then finishing at root area. leave for five minutes then rinse for 2-3 minutes.

If additional moisture is needed spritz with kms moisture repair leave-in treatment for time released hydration. For finer hair cleanse with bedhead superstar shampoo or kms add volume shampoo, moisturise with s factor papaya leave-in treatment or redken bodyfull conditioner.

Primed! Not yet, for silk like finish apply a small amount of  kms silk sheen shaping creme to damp hair, follow with a spritz of  bedheads uptight  for lightweight movement. For finer hair prime with redken plump, then pad out the root volume with kms texture blast.

Time to dry: turn head upside down(maximum volume) blast until almost dry. Don’t panic at this point, section top, front and sides and secure with clip, part back into two sections top and bottom  roll brush in bottom section heat barrel for 5 secs and cool with brush still in hair for 2-3 secs, release and repeat the procedure on rest of back sections.

Drop down side sections, following the same procedure, then roll back top section for added va voom and finally, lift front section forward then part to your preferance for a sexy sweep.

Lock and  protect with some bedhead masterpiece and kms anti-humity seal.

For the ‘Bbabe’ face prepare with Iprime, radiate with dermalogica sheer tint moisturiser, Ismoulder and Iflutter your peepers, Iblossom the cheeks then prepare to pout with some Ic.

Party on ‘Bbabe’, hangover hair can be cured with a quick refresh from bedhead afterparty.

Welcome to 3D colour – the hair colour revolution

“We want everyone who walks through our door to feel that they have received the best possible service and advice from experienced professionals, and to leave our salon not only looking, but feeling fantastic.”

girlznight is more than just a hair salon, although cutting edge designs and the latest looks remain top of the agenda.

Creative Director Karen McDougall, 42, explains the concept behind girlznight: –

“We want to restore faith in the salon industry, by bringing back the key values of client care and professionalism, which we feel have slipped over the years. Every aspect of our service is aimed at protecting the well being of our clients and ensuring they have an enjoyable, stress free visit to the salon and leave with the wow factor every time.”

Karen explains the benefits of 3D Colour

Key to girlznight’s service is a preplanned 3D colour plan, which is based on a ten minute, personal consultation prior to appointment.

“Our consultation service takes the element of chance out of a visit to the salon. Every aspect of a client’s appointment is pre-planned, from the design and style, to the colour itself.”

“The consultation involves a series of questions relating to style and colour choices, a skin test for allergies and the taking of several strands of hair as test samples. Between the consultation and appointment colour is applied to the strands, allowing the client to see the results prior to final commitment.”

This may sound simple enough, but Karen explains that salons which do not offer a skin test are not only putting their client’s health at risk, but could be taking the law into their own hands.

“3D colour mimics the hairs natural colours. This technique ensures that your colour remains natural and, most importantly to us at girlznight, in optimum condition.”

“Legally, all salons are required to skin test for allergies at least 48 hours prior to using colour on the scalp. Sadly the majority are ignoring this requirement and risking the well being of their clients.”

With their 3D colour service, girlznight are also aiming to drag colour techniques into the 21st Century and dedicated appointments ensure that, despite the increased level of service, clients are actually likely to spend less time in the salon.

“3D colour mimics the hairs natural colours. This technique ensures that your colour remains natural and, most importantly to us at girlznight, in optimum condition.”

3d“We have moved away from the dated T-bar, half head and full head methods that have been used for over twenty years and often utilise between 5 and 9 colours in the hair. Our gloss varnish shades allow us to create multi-dimensional blondes, brunettes, and redheads, delivering a more natural look and lower maintenance, even in blondes.”

“In today’s busy world we know how valuable a client’s time is and an important part of our service is our dedicated appointment system, which ensures that each stylist will only attend to one client at a time. Together with the pre-planning, this ensures that the maximum appointment time for a 3D colour transformation is 2 hours.”

Complimenting the salon is a vibrant website and retail business, which offers a range of the best hair products on the market, including exclusive salon brands such as GHD, Redken, TIGI and KMS. The site also includes features on hair and beauty tips, entertainment news and this month features an exclusive half hour video interview with celebrity stylist Gok Wan.

Goodbye darkness, hello light
Karen explains why your hair colour should change with the seasons.
As winter starts to fade,  the natural light that surrounds us is turned up a notch. Nature and the changing seasons have always been a great source of inspiration for me when I colour hair. Spring, summer, autumn and winter light variate in reflective particles that visually influence how we see colour. When you look at glass and metal in bright sunlight, or the summer sunshine shimmering on a lake ,or through the trees, then take the same scene in late autumn or winter and the picture looks completely different.

For your hair colour think and plan it season by season. Spring is approaching and if you are blonde image the lush shades of soft vanilla and buttercream teamed with cafe au lait shadows. Redheads think of rich apricots and warm paprika hues. Sparkle your dull brunnettes with walnut, biscuit and clove shadows. The key to ensuring your seasonal 3D colour comes alive is a carefully considered synergy of colours that combine a variation of lighter shades, and a combination of complimentary tones, that are placed in alternate layers throughout the hair that assist the light reflection shimmering through your hair.

so grab your “get gorgeous passport”, and let me take you on a journey into my world of 3D season by season colour
