Beyonce and Jay-Z Finally Tie The Knot!

After six years of dating, music’s most glamorous couple have finally made it official in a quiet wedding in New York last Friday. Finally!

Rumours of a wedding first began last Tuesday when the couple supposedly took out a marriage license in New York. The license would then be valid for 60 days in which time they would have to make it legit with a wedding!

Of course, then all eyes were on the richest couple in hip-hop, as the press attempted to find out when the wedidng would take place! The couple and their “people” of course, remained tight-lipped.

The following day millionaire rapper/producer/CEO Jay-Z held what many said was a batchelor party in Toronto, Canada where many beautiful women reportedly tried chatting him up. However Jay-Z, who’s clearly been tamed by his lady, was “just being nice to everyone,” an observer stated. The official word was that the celebration was merely an after-party for a concert he’d held earlier that day, but no one was buying that!

Then the date was set. The press began to report that as 26 year old Beyonce’s birthday is September 4th and 38 year old Jay-Z’s birthday is December 4th, the couple had chosen April 4th (4/4) as their wedding date. Awww! How sweet!

It was even said that whilst on a recent trip to Paris, the pair had had the date 04/04/08 tattoed onto their ring fingers in Roman Numerals in preparation for their big day. Now that’s taking it a bit far if you ask me! But each to their own.

The power couple, who have been very coy with the press about their relationship since it began, first started dating in 2002 when ex-Destiny’s Child singer Beyonce lent her vocals to Jay-Z’s hit single ‘03 Bonnie and Clyde. The following year, rumours of a romance went “crazy” after Jay-Z returned the favour by adding a rap to Beyonce’s smash hit Crazy in Love, off her debut solo album “Dangerously in Love”.

I guess the couple that performs together, stays together! Or something like that. The bad boy rapper, and the polite, southern diva, had already met previously when Beyonce starred in rapper Amil’s video for “I Got That” in 1999, which was directed by Jay-Z. Beyonce and her Destiny’s Child bandmates Kelly and Michelle also made a brief appearance in Jay-Z’s music video for his 2001 single “Izzo (H.O.V.A)”.

On Thursday, clues of the wedding began to surface. Beyonce’s former bandmates and close friends Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams posted a video on YouTube where they giggled about being at an “undisclosed location”, said to be New York’s Four Seasons Hotel. Although they were secretive on the video, press and fans speculated that they were in town for the wedding.

The clues continud on Friday, the morning of the nuptuals, when first a location (a loft at 195 Hudson St, Downtown NY) was revealed as where the wedding would be taking place. Next, flowers and tents were delivered to one of Jay-Z’s New York apartments.

The low-key couple continued to keep things low-key for their wedding day as it was claimed the guest-list only included 30 people and so would be an intimate affair, and guests were told to wear ivory. To remind us that however normal they may act, Jigga and Bey are not like us, some of the guests included Gwyneth Paltrow and hubby Chris Martin of Coldplay, tennis superstars Venus and Serena Williams, Beyonce’s younger sister, singer Solange Knowles, as well as Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams of course. What a guestlist!

Although there has still yet to be an “official” confirmation from the stars themselves, a friend confirmed that the wedding had taken place and said that the couple wanted the affair to be a quiet, private one with only family and close friends invited.

I’m still dying to see the brides’ gown though. With Beyonce’s history of beautiful, glamorous dresses on the red carpet, and her envious hour glass figure, I’m sure she was a stunning bride! I wonder whether her mother, designer and stylist Tina Knowles made the gown?? Hopefully we will eventually get to see at least one photo from the event itself!

So anyway now the deed is done and they are finally Mr. and Mrs. Carter after 6 years of dating, so what do you all think? Are you glad these guys tied the knot or do you not like them as a couple? Personally I think they’re one of the sweetest showbiz couples around, even though they try their best to hide any affection from paparazzi and rarely talk about their relationship to the press.

Just view the photo on the left of Beyonce and Jay-Z (real name Shawn Carter) whilst on holiday on a boat in France last year enjoying a quiet romantic moment together. Thinking that there was no one around, the shy couple shared a touching dance on the boat, and both looked very content with each other. I for one am happy for them!

In other Beyonce news, Madame Tussauds revealed a new waxwork figure of Miss. Knowles, uhm sorry, Mrs. Carter, in London on the same day she and Jay married. The waxwork was a replica of Beyonce from her Crazy in Love music video, the one she starred in with Jay-Z as it goes, and in the spirit of the day, Madame Tussauds decorated the wax Beyonce with a wedding veil!

The figurine isn’t exactly “life-like” haha, but it is posing in Beyonce’s signature arm in the air, underarm showing, pose! And the get extra marks for the nod towards the wedding. Wonder whether they’ll go to one of the favourites, the South of France, for their honeymoon, or maybe somewhere else exotic and expensive! Or knowing how hardwroking and busy this uber-rich pair are, maybe they won’t stop for a honeymoon at all!
