If the announcement that Anna Sui was doing a line for Target were not exciting enough, now I hear that it’s going to be inspired by Gossip Girl. Apparently Sui fans are constantly asking the designer about the show and she wanted to respond to that buzz.

The clothes will be inspired by the four leading fashionistas on the show – Serena, Blair, Jenny and Vanessa. So more than ever you’ll be able to show off sartorically whether you’re a Blair or a Serena.

The Sui line will be part of the Designer Collection series begun by Alexander McQueen, which focuses on established designers rather than the up and comers Target is also known for showcasing with the Go International series. The line hits select stores from September 13 to October 7, though we’ve never known Target to actual pull items at the “close date” of these capsule collections. Anything that doesn’t sell will be on the sale racks.

Sui used materials like metallic jacquard, herringbone, silk and chiffon with tulle, lace and sequin detailing. Sounds right up a GG fan’s alley, though I’m not sure how Target-grade silk will hang.

Is Sui worried about selling out? No way.

“It is an exciting challenge to try and interpret my aesthetic into a mass-produced product with a specific international source as the focus,” Sui said.
